The blocky world of Minecraft is massive with different biomes to explore. However, there are some aspects of world-generation that can use some improvements.
For example, despite being large, things often feel empty and simple. Deserts are mostly sand with no special structures, dunes, etc. Colder regions have nothing special as well. However, it seems that the forest is the most lacking out of all the biomes.
A Minecraft player, u/eloprameol, posted some images on the game’s subreddit showing how they worked on the forest biome to add more character to it. They added some structures like a castle, more foliage, and made the area look more alive.
Forests are supposed to be dense but the developers should not only add trees but also unique structures, towers, etc., to improve the immersion. It should also be filled with trees of different types to keep things interesting.
u/Still-Engineering574 said that they are very bad at creating custom landscapes and might use the shared images as reference. Players can add more trees and structures to bring more life to the biomes. However, this cannot be done for all the regions of the game as it becomes too tedious.
u/Deathlygreen said that they would love to see Mojang Studios bring the same change to the biome as it adds more variety, especially the stream of water that seems to be the source of all the greenery.
u/Teimous mentioned that waterways and rivers should be present in these green biomes by default and the developers will not have to change the physics as well. The original poster replied that they are planning to add a waterfall and the images show a moat-like area around their castle on the hill. However, they agreed that there should be some variation in height as well.
Making the blocky world of Minecraft more immersive

Mojang Studios released the Spring to Life game drop at the start of the year and it was the first step in the right direction. The update added a variety of animal mobs for both colder and warmer biomes along with falling leaves effect, leaf litter, and some ambient sounds.
The large size of Minecraft world feels like a waste of potential because after a few hours, everything feels the same with nothing new to come across. Players also explore the world to find interesting world seeds with unique islands as well.
If the developers could bring more variety not just in animals but also the terrain, structures, and villages, it would be a great thing for the immersion and overall better experience. Perhaps it might be done with the updates for next year.
