WWE World Champion Liv Morgan reveals real reason she’s in Queen of the Ring

After WWE Clash in Italy, the promotion gave fans the full breakdown of the King & Queen of the Ring Tournaments this year. We got the entire brackets, with both absolutely loaded with talent. Though the QOTR might be a bit more stacked thanks to the inclusion of the current WWE Women’s World Champion.

Much like last year, this year’s tournaments will be comprised of four Fatal 4-Ways a piece. The winners of those matches will meet in the King & Queen of the Ring semifinals in singles bouts. Those victors will then go to Night of Champions, where this year’s King & Queen of the Ring will be crowned. The QOTR is full of both multi-time world champions and young stars who are on their way to the top…and Liv Morgan!

During the Clash in Italy post-show, Liv Morgan congratulated the women who competed tonight. Rhea Ripley and Sol Ruca, especially, who the WWE Women’s World Champion reminded us that she’s already defeated. Following that, she gave her reasoning behind entering the QOTR tournament. It was her idea, it turned out, and it was to prove a point.

“It had me thinking of all the people that think Liv Morgan isn’t a good champion. It had me thinking of all the people that say, ‘Liv Morgan does not defend her title.’ It had me thinking of all the people that say, ‘Liv Morgan isn’t worthy of being champion.’ You know what that made me think? That made me think that I am entering the Queen of the Ring Tournament because I WANT IT ALL!! I want it all, so I am taking it all, because I’m the GREATEST WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPION OF ALL TIME!!”

Liv Morgan plans to prove herself and, seemingly, go after fellow champion Rhea Ripley. The pair have had a few passing moments since Mami moved to SmackDown to carry the WWE Women’s Championship. Should Liv run the gauntlet, a Champion vs Champion match could be waiting for her.

What does winning the WWE Queen of the Ring Tournament mean?

Anyone who wins the King or Queen of the Ring Tournaments will earn a world championship match at SummerSlam. Much like the Royal Rumble bouts each year, these are a lock unless some shenanigans take place, like Rey Mysterio losing his opportunity to Randy Orton in 2006, only to get the match anyway.

For the men’s side, the KOTR has a 100% guarantee of earning its winner a World Title at the Biggest Party of the Summer. Last year, Cody Rhodes won the WWE Championship from John Cena off the back of the KOTR. The year before, Gunther took the title from Damian Priest following his incredible tournament run. When it comes to the Queen of the Ring, though, the odds are slightly lower.

Nia Jax and Jade Cargill are our two previous Queens of the Ring in this current version of the tournament. While Jax went on to the 2024 SummerSlam to topple Bayley and win the Women’s WWE Championship, Jade Cargill actually failed. At SummerSlam last year, Cargill challenged Tiffany Stratton for that very same title. Though she’d eventually take it off of the Buff Barbie, it didn’t happen at SummerSlam.

Will we see Morgan prove herself as the greatest? We won’t have to wait long, as the King & Queen of the Ring Tournaments start on Monday Night RAW tomorrow.
