Mortal Shell 2 brings plenty of new weapons for you to play around with. These include a variety of melee weapons, including some returning ones, along with a lot more sidearms. However, not every weapon is equal when it comes to usability; some are great in certain situations, while others are good all-rounders or much more useful throughout the game.
Keeping that in mind, we’ve made a tier list of all weapons in Mortal Shell 2. Let’s find out which ones are great for overall use.

We’ve divided the tier list into three sections: S, A, and B-tier. Each of them features both melee and ranged weapons.

S-tier weapons in Mortal Shell 2
- Axatana: This melee weapon is a hybrid dual-sword that can also turn into an axe, allowing you to swap between swift strikes and heavy attacks.
- Veteran’s Battle Axe: Another melee weapon that you’ll get early on and with the +4 update, making it a solid pick for early-game. It’s a two-handed axe that can throw around enemies and is overall fun to use.
- Clockwork Scythe: An actual Scythe that not only looks great, but also deals sweeping AoE damage and is quite effective against groups of enemies.
- Triarch Repeater: This sidearm is a minigun with 100 bullets that won’t exactly deal a lot of damage, but with Tarstone like Emberseed or Corroded, it can deal good DoT.
- Troubadour’s Lute: Whip out your inner bard with this sidearm and apply the Confusion debuff on enemies and, for a duration, make them fight each other.
- Bastillazoka: As the name suggests, it’s a bazooka that shoots high-power shots and will show enemies that you mean business.
A-tier weapons in Mortal Shell 2
- Axe and Dagger: The second 2-handed melee that you’ll get before Axatana. It’s fast-striking and can be used with Duality Stone to double your damage.
- Black Needle: This melee weapon is a spear that allows you to keep a little more distance while delivering high-speed strikes.
- Cursed Child: Shoots screaming sound waves that can push back and stagger enemies at close range. However, it’s not a good pick if you want to shoot at a distance.
- Caged Hystrix: This sidearm shoots a barrage of projectiles that can be used to build up stagger with proper Tarstones.
- Forgotten Crossbow: Possibly your first sidearm upgrade, the Forgotten Crossbow shoots relatively fast and deals a decent amount of damage. Talk to Merrick at the Marrow Keep to get its location for free.
B-tier weapons in Mortal Shell 2
- The Iconoclast: You get this weapon along with Haross’ Shell, and while it’s a good starter, there are much better options once you get past the Marrow Keep.
- Great Martyr’s Blade: This longsword deals good damage at the cost of attack speed. A good way to use it is with Vatra’s Seal, hardening yourself right before an enemy strike to keep fighting.
- Obsidian Hammer: This melee weapon features a large chunk of Obsidian on one side that can knock back enemies with hits. However, it’s not as effective against groups of fast-attacking enemies.
- Salvaged Trebuchaxe: Deals serious damage but takes time to shoot projectiles. However, it’s a good addition if you want to deal a large amount of damage from a distance.
- Naylshotte: Another default weapon you get alongside Harros. Like the Iconoclast, it’s good early on, but the Forgotten Crossbow is a major upgrade over it.
Needless to say, it’ll be a lot better if you get and try out every weapon yourself to find which one suits you best. Maybe you’ll love hitting enemies with a large rock on the Obsidian Hammer.
