NFL fans react to potential Eagles vs. Patriots joint practice game in training camp

The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots might be squaring off in a few months. According to Eliot Shorr-Parks, the Eagles and Patriots are discussing having joint practices in training camp.

Eagles’ wide receiver A.J. Brown has been linked with a potential trade to the Patriots. The speculation about the perennial Pro Bowler’s future got the comment section on X talking.

A fan said, “Winner gets AJ.”

One wrote, “Winner of the joint practice gets Aj?”

Some saw a different angle.

One said, “Your tweet has a chance to be maybe the dumbest tweet of the day. A must-win practice? What’s wrong with you?”

Another added, “W** do you come up a record for joint practices from?!?”

One chipped in, saying, “Ahh yes let them record our offense and defense.”

The Philadelphia Eagles went one-and-done in the 2025 playoffs, losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the wildcard round. A lowlight from the game was Nick Sirianni going at A.J. Brown on the sidelines.

The New England Patriots reached the Super Bowl in Mike Vrabel’s first year on the job. However, Drake Maye and Co. lost to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Eagles and Patriots previously held a single joint training camp practice session in August 2024. Sirianni’s troops got the better of their opponents in that session, but the Patriots’ roster will be even more stacked if they decide to run it back in 2026.

A.J. Brown gearing up for Year 8

A.J. Brown is preparing for his eighth season in the NFL. The perennial Pro Bowler is the Eagles’ WR1 and he’s one of the most consistent pass catchers in the league.

Brown has made the playoffs in every season of his professional football career. He did so three times with the Tennessee Titans and four times with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brown’s future in Philadelphia has been the subject of speculation for quite some time. His streak of All-Pro selections ended in 2025 with the Eagles seemingly favoring a rush-heavy offense.

The New England Patriots have been named as a potential landing spot for the Ole Miss product. Brown knows Mike Vrabel well from his time in Tennessee and the current Patriots coach would love to add him to their offense.

With the Eagles and Patriots potentially holding a joint practice, there’s a chance that Brown might be on the winning team at the season opener.
